Definition of Assessor
One who assists the Court in trying a scientific or technical question, but who has no voice in the decision. e.g., Brethren of Trinity House may sit as assessors in the Admiralty Court, and the Bishops in the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in ecclesiastical appeals
