Bioinformatics – the New Source of Evidence

Barbara Wilinska, from the LODZ UNIVERSITY, made a contribution to the 2012 Annual Conference of the European Society of Criminology, in the category “Criminological Theory, Research and Education,” under the title “Bioinformatics – the New Source of Evidence”. Here is the abstract: Molecular biology is one of a fields that increasingly based on biomolecular data and thus and other areas which are very helpfull – the new one which establish by many European countries is bioinformatics. The bioinformatics is a field supported by DNA profils of crime scenes of known offenders and apply DNA testing. The aim of this study is to discuss how the technological advances such DNA microarray sequencing, algorithms provide a new solutions in forensic DNA sience. In this article it will be widely discussed, how the new technologies in field of forensic science and criminology raised from private reasech afeccted public health and what is the most important – started the era of genetic databasis which is the most relaibe evidence for justice.
