Definition of Bye-laws
Rules made by some authority (subordinate to the Legislature) for the regulation, administration or management of a certain district, property, undertaking, etc., and binding on all persons who come within their scope. Thus every Act of Parliament incorporating a railway company gives it power to make bye-laws for the regulation of its line, subject to the sanction of the Board of Trade. Municipal corporations have a similar power. A bye-law is invalid if it is ultra vires
