Description of Carbon tax

The Concise Encyclopedia of the European Union describes carbon tax in the following terms: [1] A proposed energy tax, favoured by the Commission as a way of boosting its revenue in the name of protecting the environment from excessive carbon dioxide emissions. The tax has not been approved by the Council. It would be anti-competitive unless introduced throughout the advanced world.
