Definition of Combination, Unlawful

Combinations in restraint of trade are unlawful at common law. But combinations of workmen for the purpose of raising wages, etc., i. e., trade unions, have been legalised by statute. See the Trade Union Act, 1871 ; Trade Disputes Act, 1906
