Definition of Court Of Common Pleas
One of the Courts into which the Curia Regis was divided. It was originally the only superior Court of record having jurisdiction in ordinary, civil actions between subject and subject.
t consisted of a Lord Chief Justice and five puisne justices. It was transferred to the High Court of Justice by the Judicature Act, 1873
