The commonest species of distringas was that formerly issued by the Courts to prevent a public company from permitting the transfer of a sum of stock in their books, or from paying the dividends on it, without previously giving notice to the person who had obtained the writ
Now no writ is issued, but a notice in lieu of the writ. See Order XLVI
