Europe of Nations in Europe

Description of Europe of Nations

The Concise Encyclopedia of the European Union describes europe of nations in the following terms: [1] The idea that nation states should be the main determinants of the future of Europe (see more in this European encyclopedia). Charles de Gaulle used the term to denote his vision of a Community built on co-operation, as opposed to an integrated Union in which power lay predominantly with the Commission and other supranational bodies. Margaret Thatcher later adopted the same theme.
