European Social Fund

Introduction to European Social Fund

The European Social Fund is organized in much the same way, but it focuses mainly on the training and retraining of workers. Since 1988 it has concentrated more on long-term and youth unemployment, especially in the economically disadvantaged regions of the EU. All countries have benefited from the funds, but the vast bulk of grants have gone to poorer areas.
