Description of Eurospeak

The Concise Encyclopedia of the European Union describes eurospeak in the following terms: [1] A high-flown, ambiguous or obscurantist mode of expression used byEurocrats to mask or put a gloss on their objectives. Eurospeak also tends towards political correctness and officialese (see more in this European encyclopedia). The Maastricht Treaty’s unrelieved Eurospeak disgusted even Commission President Jacques Delors, who was not to know that the Treaty of Amsterdam would be no better.
