Provisions relating to falsification of personal status in the German Criminal Code [1]: This criminal issue is covered by Chapter Twelve, under the heading “Offences Related to the Personal Status Registry, Marriage and the Family,” located in Section 169 Falsification of personal status, which reads: (1) Whosoever declares a child to be somebody elses or falsely gives or suppresses the personal status of another to a public authority responsible for the maintenance of personal status registers or the determination of personal status, shall be liable to imprisonment of not more than two years or a fine. (2) The attempt shall be punishable.
