Friendly Societies in Europe
Definition of Friendly Societies
Societies established to provide by the voluntary subscriptions of their members, for the relief or maintenance of the members and their families during sickness or old age, and their widows and orphan children. They must be registered. (Friendly Societies Act, 1896.)
