Definition of Judge
A Judge is an officer of the Crown who sits to administer justice according to law. The Judges of the High Court are appointed from practising barristers, and hold office during good behaviour. They can be removed on address by both Houses of Parliament. Their salary is charged on the consolidated fund. (Act of Settlement, 12 & 13 Will. 3, c. 2.)’ They cannot be members of the House of Commons.
A Judge is not liable to an action for a judicial act or omission, except the refusal of a writ of habeas corpus in vacation. (Habeas Corpus Act, 31 Car. 2, c. 2, s. 10.).
