Preference Shares in Europe
Definition of Preference Shares
Shares in a joint stock company which are entitled to a fixed rate of dividend payable in preference to the dividend on the ordinary shares. Unless preference shares are made preferential as to capital they rank pari passu with the ordinary shares on a winding-up. They are presumed to be cumulative
