Definition of Praemunire
The offence of directly or indirectly asserting the supremacy of the Pope over the Crown of England, as by procuring excommunications or bulls from Rome, contrary to the Statute of Praemunire (16 Rich. 2, c. 5), iThe writ employed commenced with the words, prcpmunirc facias, ” that you cause to be forewarned.” Praepositus. “One put in front.” A person in authority. Prases. The president or governor of a province ; a Icgatus Cczsaris being the governor of a province reserved by the emperor. (Roman Law.)
