Definition of Circuits
Divisions of the country for judicial business. For the purpose of holding assizes (q.v.), the country is divided into seven circuits, namely, the Northern, North-eastern, Midland, South-eastern, Oxford, Western, and North and South Wales, the last being divided into two divisions. The county of Surrey is not included in any circuit, but commissions for the discharge therein of civil and criminal business are issued not less than twice a year
County Court circuits were created by the County Courts Act, 1846
