Deviation in Europe
Definition of Deviation
The intentional departure from the due course of a voyage, which discharges the underwriters of a voyage policy of marine insurance, on the ground of the alteration of the nature of the risk. The carrier is not liable for damage resulting from deviation to save life or property. (Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, 1924, Art. IV, s. 4.)
