Definition of Jolly V. Rees
((1863), 15 C. B. (N.S.) 628). In 1851 the defendant prohibited his wife from pledging his credit for clothing for herself and daughters, and paid her a yearly sum for the purpose, which the jury held was insufficient. The plaintiffs in ‘I860 and 1861 supplied the wife with necessary clothing on credit, having no notice of the prohibition. Held, the defendant was not liable
