Salvage in Europe

Definition of Salvage

Compensation allowed to persons (salvors) by whose assistance a ship or cargo or the lives of persons belonging to her are saved from danger or loss at sea. The assistance must be voluntary and salvors have a retaining lien for their remuneration on the property rescued. The Admiralty Court will assess the amount payable as salvage
