Subinfeudation in Europe
Definition of Subinfeudation
The grant of the whole or part of his land by a tenant in fee-simple to another to hold of him as his tenant so that the relation of tenure with its incidents of fealty, etc., was created between them. Subinfeudation was abolished by the statute Quia Emptores (q.v.) (18 Edw. 1, c. 1)
