Grand Serjeanty in Europe
Definition of Grand Serjeanty
A variety of land tenure resembling knight’sservice, where certain honorary services were rendered to the person of the King, such as carrying his banner or acting as his marshall. These incidents were retained when knight’s-service was abolished in 1660, and are preserved by the Law of Property Act, 1922
