Sequestration in Europe
Definition of Sequestration
Legal process consisting of the temporary deprivation of a person of his property. It is a writ or commission directed to certain persons (usually four in number and one of them being usually a sheriff’s officer) nominated by the person prosecuting the judgment, and empowering them to enter upon the real estate of the disobedient person, and receive the rents and profits thereof, and take his chattels, and keep them in their hands, until he performs the act required.
