Definition of Third Party
One who is a stranger to a transaction or proceeding. Where a defendant claims to be entitled to contribution or indemnity over against any person not a party to an action, he may by leave issue a third party notice, duly sealed, and serve it on such person within the time limited for delivering his defence. (Order XVI, r. 48.).
A ” third party risk policy ” is a policy of insurance against liability in respect of injury caused by the insurer or his servants to the property or persons of others
